The Lafferty Motorsports Driver Development Program has been designed to provide an outlet, or an opportunity for drivers and potential drivers to make it in racing. Whether it is an entry level racer or a driver close to making it into one of NASCAR's top 3 series, this program could be the best if not the only opportunity for drivers.
Any person wanting to become a driver for Lafferty Motorsports MUST first successfully complete a development test.
Empowering our drivers is our ultimate goal with emphasis being placed on a well rounded driver. Speaking skills, marketing skills, and having an overall understanding of the "Business of Racing, as well as their performance behind the wheel are all critical areas that we address.
Understand that there are only two people who will ever pay for you to race, and those two people are you or a sponsor. While Lafferty Enterprises will not "go get you a sponsor", we are teaching you the skills necessary to "kick" these sponsor doors open. If you are willing to help yourself kick these doors open, then at that time we WILL send in our marketing team to close a sponsor deal so that you may come drive for us.
We are not necessarily looking for the fastest guy or girl in the world, we are looking for those individuals who have DRIVE, DEDICATION, and the RIGHT attitude. Those are the traits that will get you to the next level. We don't care how good a driver is, if that person has a bad attitude it is not worth our time and we will not work with that person.
Our driver development program starts out at the race track where we will walk the driver around the track getting them familiar with the track and setting up a driving baseline. Once the driver is on the track they are asked to perform certain tasks that will tell us just how much work we have to do to prepare a driver to race. Our Lafferty team is looking for the talent that you have, we are looking at what we can teach you, and the most critical thing is we are looking to see if your attitude can mesh well enough with us so that it is a good fit for everyone. From listening to consistency drills to maintaining the proper line, this is not a walk in the park, but it is necessary to find what a driver is capable of!
On average a driver will turn 50 to 70 laps, you will have a once in a lifetime chance to drive a Lafferty Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck, less than 1% of all drivers will get this kind of opportunity. But beware if a driver shows a blatant disregard for safety they will be pulled from the drivers seat immediately!
The following day will be spent in the shop where the first order of business will be the results of our evaluation. After we talk about the test we will consult you as to what your future with Lafferty Motorsports could be. Now it's time to talk marketing!
We are going to spend about 2 hours giving you an introduction to marketing, this is where we will show you key factors that can be the difference between you making it or sitting at home. We then will cover key factors in attracting potential sponsors, we will cover the information needed if the Lafferty Motorsports marketing team is going to be utilized. From speaking ability and driver appearance to understanding what a sponsor wants all elements are covered.
Our function is to prepare drivers for competition. After our first test a driver may have the opportunity to become a driver for Lafferty Motorsports and soon find themselves as a driver in one of our local races or who knows you could find yourself in one of our NASCAR Craftsman trucks for a race or maybe one of our ARCA Remax Series cars.
Make no mistake this is not easy and we will not go find you a sponsor, but we are willing and able to come in and close a sponsor deal for a driver to come drive for Lafferty Motorsports.
We prefer you to bring your own driving gear but for those who do not have driving gear Lafferty Motorsports has driving gear available. All drivers are require to have ear plugs to facilitate communications with Lafferty Motorsports, for those drivers who do not have ear plugs they can be purchased the day of the test for $100.
